Emmy and Grammy award winning pop star Whitney Houston was reported dead this afternoon by her longtime publicist Kristen Foster. Houston was 48.
[photogallerylink id=121554 align=left]At the peak of her career in the 1980s and 1990s, Whitney Houston was one of the best selling artists in the world. Later years in her career would be marred by drug use as record sales plummeted in the 2000s.
According to Mix 104.1′s Fast Freddy, “At 3:23 Whitney was found unresponsive in her room & 911 was called. They arrived in 2 minutes and attempted to revive her. Whitney was pronounced dead at 3:55pm today on the 4th floor or The Beverly Hilton Hotel.”
Late reports from gossip site TMZ say that Houston’s body was found in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton hotel room.

Freddy goes on to report that “LAPD said no foul play or drugs were found in her room. She was at the hotel for Clive Davis’ Annual Grammy Party tonight.”
No cause of death has been reported. Houston is survived by former husband Bobby Brown and one daughter.
