Christina Perri is not just an artist on the soundtrack for Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1. She’s a self-proclaimed huge fan of the book and film series, so it should surprise no one that she jumped at the opportunity to write an original song for the movie. As she says in the video above, she was not shy about her fandom.
“I’m a full-on ‘Twi-hard,'” she said about herself.
When Perri first got her record deal with Atlantic Records, she noticed plaques on the walls commemorating the movies and their soundtracks. She said she “subliminally” sent signals to record execs that she wanted to be on the soundtrack to the next movie.
She eventually got access to an early screening and went right home to write “A Thousand Years,” which she says was a unique experience.
“As a songwriter it was cool to step into their world and write – because I’m not a vampire, bummer,” she joked.
She also met the cast of Twilight, who she says told her how grateful they were to have such a heartfelt song on the movie’s soundtrack.
