By now I’m sure most of you have heard about Karen Klein, the elderly bus monitor from upstate New York who garnered nationwide attention after a video of school children bullying her went viral on the internet.

Nobody deserves that type of harassment. Nobody.  And while America was outraged, Mix104.1 was determined. Determined to make Karen Klein’s bus-riding experience enjoyable again, with a little Boston-spin on it.

So we booked her a flight, paid for a limo, put her up in a hotel, and invited her down to the station to enjoy an afternoon tour of the city on our famous duck boats!

Right around 10:30am, Klein rode into the parking lot as school children awaited her with gorgeous flowers and handmade signs of encouragement. The Norton Pop Warner cheerleaders even put on a song and dance routine! She stepped out onto the pavement and Kennedy greeted her with a monstrous hug, and on she strolled down the red carpet with media members snapping away, picture after picture.

After a brief Q&A held by Karson, Kennedy and Salt, Boston School Committee spokeswoman Alfreda Harris presented Karen with a special proclamation, declaring her an honorary bus monitor for Boston Public Schools, for displaying courage and bravery in the face of adversity.
