I’ve been seeing in the news that the fine folks behind “The Price is Right” are having a contest that will put the 1st ever male model on the show.  The only catch is that it is for only 1 week.  They are having a casting call in Los Angeles on August 30th and the potential male models will be judged on things like “verbal skills, posing and ability to properly showcase a product.”  The finalists will then appear on a 5 episode web series where fans will vote for the winner.  The winner will be on the show the week of October 15th.

Not sure how I feel about this one.   I’ve been watching the show since I was a kid and am so used to seeing “Barkers Beauties” parading around in bikini’s and such that it will just seem different to me.  But like everyone else who grew up around here, I am just a person who doesn’t like change!

My other issue is that why would the guy only be on for a week?  If you are going to break the rule of women models only, why not just let the guy stay on.  Why do a whole contest if you are not serious about keeping the guy around?  It seems like adding the male model for a week is like when Popeye’s added Dip’n Chick’n to the menu for a limited time only and then they took it away.  I was MAD because I would’ve loved them.  Of course, I didn’t get the chance to even try them but I love Popeye’s and I’m sure that they were great.  But I digress…..  In this case, I would think women who watch the show will probably like seeing some jacked up model guy on the show that they can drool over in between reading 50 Shades of Grey for the millionth time.
