American Idol winner, Phillip Phillips dropped by the world famous Mix Lounge at the Emerald Lounge in Boston’s Back Bay on Saturday. In the crowd of roughly 100 people was Massachusetts’ newest local star, Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Aly Raisman.

Since Phillips’ first single, “Home” became the unofficial anthem of the US Women’s Gymnastics Team in London this summer, Mix 104.1 invited Raisman to the Mix Lounge to see Phillips perform.

Right before Phillips played “Home,” Fast Freddy from the afternoon show with Gregg Daniels asked the Idol winner if he had any tips for one of the Bay State’s 2012 gold medalists on dealing with the new found fame and the paparazzi.

“Just talk nonsense, so they get confused, you know,” quipped Phillips, to laughter from the audience. “Just ignore them. Just make the best of it.”

“They’ll say ‘So, where were you born?’ ‘Well, the world is an amazing place.. Lots of birth going on…’”

This performance in Boston was the first time Phillip Phillips and Aly Raisman have met in person. Phillips is working on his debut album, due out sometime the end of this year. Raisman is set to go on tour with other world champion gymnasts this Fall.
