MixFest 1994 Flashback

Andrew Celani -- Mix1041.com

We’re counting down all the MixFests dating back to its inception in 1993. With that in mind, it’s time to relive MixFest 1994!

MixFest ’94 was held for the second straight year on the Boston Common. Like the one before it and most of the ones after it, MixFest 1994 was a free show put on by the station to celebrate the coming of fall.

Some notable artists who performed at MixFest ’94 were Huey Lewis, Wet Wet Wet, and Kathy Troccoli. In addition to the national acts, there were also a number of local bands that played over the course of the two-day event.

That November, Huey Lewis and the News put out their seventh studio album, titled Four Chords & Several Years Ago. Comprised of rhythm and blues cover songs, it was their last album to feature founding member and bassist Mario Cippolina.

Question For You: Are you a MixFest veteran? If so, how many shows have you been to? Tell us in the comments section!
