In recent times, it seems that with these great names in music come the growing trend of curvaceous physiques that are taking shape. Singer Adele, who has seemingly paved the way for women to accept and even embrace their curves and bodies has been outspoken about not caring what critics have to say about her weight. In fact, in the Adele: The Biography, the songstress said that she was very comfortable with her body and was making no plans to shed pounds. Has Adele started a revolution of curves being cool assets for women to have in Hollywood and even elsewhere? Back in February, the “Rolling In The Deep” singer responded with grace and dignity when designer Karl Lagerfeld called her “fat.”
She simply stated: “I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines,” she stated to media outlets. “I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.”
Women are constantly bombarded with messages from the media and elsewhere to be “thin” and “perfect”. Many of the messages are seen as hampering and even devastating due to unrealistic pressure placed upon women to be thin or skinny in order to be happy or achieve success. Those messages to be thin took the backseat during the American Music Awards on Sunday, November 19.
During Sunday evening’s AMAs, some huge names in music sported curves and healthier bodies — and they weren’t afraid to expose them. Singers such as Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and Ke$ha perform with thicker bodies than they had before. Aguilera rocked a star spangled costume and fishnets that accentuated all her curves.

And Nicki Minaj featured her hips and bum when she joined Justin Bieber onstage for his performance.
If curves on our favorite singers are just a fad, then this temporary message singers are sending their fans and our youth will hopefully have a lasting impact long after the fad to embrace thicker physiques passes. Many artist today are passing on the message with their appearance that you can be healthy with curves…and healthy is always in style.
