Silly overused puns aside, is it a great idea to ask the father of your significant other for permission to marry his daughter on Thanksgiving Day? Listener Dave called in to get some advice, because this is what he plans to do.
One the upside, you get to do it in person with all the family together, and if you time it right, the father can be in a great mood, filled with great food and surrounded by loved ones. On the other hand, family holidays can sometimes be filled with strife, as all the grudges and dirty laundry from years and years of bad blood can boil over in the worst possible ways.
Would it be smart to introduce the subject of marriage into such a volatile situation? What do you think about Dave’s plan? Does the good outweigh the bad, or vice-versa?
