Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton thought he was in the clear after chemotherapy helped rid his tongue of cancerous tumors 5 years ago. And then the cancer came back — with a vengeance. The cancer spread to his throat and left him with very few treatment options.
Hamilton received an experimental form of laser therapy courtesy of Dr. Steven Zeitels, who had never tried that specific treatment method on the tongue before, only on vocal cords. And as fate would have it, it worked. All that is in the past now as Hamilton was proud to announce earlier this month that he is 100% cancer free.
“I’m feeling really good! I’m cancer free as of 5 days ago,” Hamilton told BackstageAxxess.com on November 14th.
To be sure that the cancer is gone for good, Hamilton will have routine throat scopes every couple of months just to keep an eye on it, which is more than okay with the longtime bassist.
Mix104.1 would like to personally congratulate Hamilton on his recent triumph!
