Blink-182 are no strangers to the apparel business.
in 1999 drummer Travis Barker, created and endorsed his own clothing line called Famous Stars & Straps. Since its launch, the brand’s stylized F logo (known as the badge of honor) has been seen on hundreds of musicians and celebrities, two of which are Barker’s bandmates, Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge. With Famous’ retail success he added The Wild Ones, DTA Posse, Expensive Taste and Rogue Status to his Killer Distribution company.
In 2001, singer/guitarist DeLonge started Atticus Clothing and Macbeth Footwear with bassist Mark Hoppus. DeLonge later sold his share of Atticus, yet retained Macbeth.
Today, funnyman Mark Hoppus announced the launch of his new line called My Name Is Mark featuring 4 limited-edition t-shirts. One shirt will be released each week for four weeks, with each edition only available seven days or until it sells out, whichever comes first.
The company logo as well as debut t-shirt design feature an octopus. According to a statement on the brand’s website, Hopus explains “I’ve been using the octopus logo over the past few years, and throughout, people have asked, ‘what’s up with the octopus?’ It’s an easy answer. Music. Friends. Art. Travel. Adventure. Quotes from your favorite movies. The ocean. Punk rock clubs. Video games. Websites that make you laugh. Literature. Photos of good memories. London, Los Angeles, New York, and everywhere in between. I hope that narrows it down.”
Sorry to disappoint you Mark but your answer doesn’t help us one lick.
Meanwhile, Blink-182 will release “a Christmas gift to our fans” in the form of a holiday EP titled Dogs Eating Dogs. The disc, which includes a Christmas song as well as twangy folk tune, is schedule to hit stores everywhere December 18, 2012. Pre-orders are now available in various packages from $9.99 to $99.99.
