On Saturday afternoon, May 11th, 51-year-old Pamela Beck of Pinellas Park, Florida, and her friend, 38-year-old Amie Peterson, were at a Starbucks.

As Pamela went to get her money, she dropped her purse.  And when it hit the ground, the .25-caliber handgun she was carrying inside accidentally went off and shot her friend in the leg above the knee.

Amie was treated at a hospital and released.  All things considered, things could’ve turned out a lot worse. Pamela told the police her dad had given her the gun about a year ago, and she forgot it was in her purse.

Prosecutors are deciding whether to press charges.
