Ok, so I’ll be taking on the challenge of a lifetime. Literally. I am a creature of habit. I eat the same meals, read the same magazines, and have the same workout every day. Run. Between 4-9 miles a day. Up until this week, when I decided to challenge myself, and committed to a triathlon August 4. One issue, the swim. Oh yeah, that, right……….I barley know how to swim 100 yards. SO, we begin, with my new BFF. Richard Axtell. He’ll be my new Angel, and I’ll be his worst neurotic and OCD nightmare. Life is all about taking chances, and getting out of our comfort zone. My friend Rich’s coaching career began in 1993 as a recreation league coach. In 1994 Rich transitioned to USS club coaching. Working closely with a former Olympic coach, Rich quickly developed a passion for swimming excellence. This passion grew into a desire to cultivate fast swimming in all his swimmers from walk-on to national qualifier. Rich has coached scores of USMS Top 10 athletes, NEM record holders, All Americans, and Olympic Trial Qualifiers. In addition to his success in coaching competitive swimmers, Rich specializes in coaching the swim leg of triathlon. Rich has worked with triathlete’s of all abilities including Iron Man World Champion Karen Smyers. Currently Rich is the swim coach for 2008 Olympian Jarrod Shoemaker, Alicia Kaye, Ethan Brown, and other elite’s. Now, we can POTENTAILLY add, Sue Brady? I’ll keep you posted! Am I worthy???
