Designer Roberto Cavalli recently released a sketch of one of the outfits Beyoncé has worn on her The Mrs Carter Show World Tour. The image showcases Beyoncé in a long, colorful silk dress with gold barocco embroidery. But it isn’t the dress that’s causing an uproar, it’s the sketch of a curveless and slimmed-down Beyoncé.
Once the drawing hit the web, Cavalli found himself under fire for his changes to Beyoncé’s figure and the brand quickly released a statement.
“We would like to clarify that the image of the gown created by Roberto Cavalli for Beyoncé is a sketch and not a photo, and therefore it is only meant to be a stylised and artistic vision,” he said. “Roberto Cavalli loves women and more than anyone else has always exalted and highlighted the female shape with his creations, building his signature style on the glorification of sensuality and femininity.”
This isn’t the first time Beyoncé and her fans have expressed outrage over a misrepresented image. Earlier this year, Beyoncé was angered when H&M decided to Photoshop images of her for their summer campaign. H&M later retracted the photos after her team refused to accept the changes made to the campaign.
