Anyone who lives in the Boston area knows that you don’t go swimming in the Charles River. That water is just packed with filth and could even get you really sick. Boston’s anthem is called “Dirty Water” for a reason, right?
American Authors frontman Zac Barnett didn’t seem to realize that – or care. Barnett, who went to Boston’s Berklee College of Music, says swimming in the Charles was a regular activity for him and his buddies.
“There would be plenty of drunken nights where you just strip off all your clothes and jump on in,” he said describing the drunken escapades, which he says happened many times over the summer. Of course he turned out OK, as he met the rest of the band and they went from there.
