MixFest 2015: Andy Grammer Feels “Boston Has Really Championed Me”

Andy Grammer has been busy this summer: hit songs, dancing on network television, touring. Thankfully, we were able to bring this friend of Mix 104.1 back to Boston for our free MixFest show at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell this year.

Sure, we know Andy the singer, but thanks to this season of Dancing with the Stars, we’re getting acquainted with Andy the dancer.

“I wasn’t amazing, I was like right in the middle. Where the judges scores land, I’m right in the middle. I’m poised to make a late run at the end,” Andy Grammer told Gregg, Freddy, and Amanda backstage.

“I worked so hard to not be terrible,” Andy laughed. “I was just in a dance studio down the street.”

Between DWTS and playing shows like MixFest, Grammer is running on all cylinders, and he’s ready to play his second MixFest show of his career.

“This is the best. This is the institution. This is THE MixFest,” he said. “Full band. We’re going to rock out!”

Andy loves coming back to Boston as often as he can.

“This city, the city of Boston has really championed me in my early days,” he told Gregg, Fred, and Amanda. “Every time I come here, I feel that. I love you guys!”
