The ghost of a former Hi-C flavor may have been resurrected thanks to the new female-fronted Ghostbusters film. According to a Twitter account dedicated to bringing the retired flavor of our childhood back to life, the product sample for the 2016 revival of Hi-C Ecto Cooler is pictured below.
The photo comes from an auction of the prototype on eBay, which after 25 bids, is currently at $233.50. You may remember the original Hi-C Ecto Cooler, which actually came in a box and featured Slimer on the label. Depending on when you enjoyed the sugary treasure, it may have looked like one of the photos below:
Originally, the Hi-C Ecto Cooler was developed for the cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters, and it was only expected to live on shelves for as long as the show. Due to the drink’s popularity, it ended up outliving the series by more than a decade before Minute Maid renamed the drink “Shoutin’ Orange Tangergreen” in 2006. The product ended up fizzling out in 2007, but according to people who probably shouldn’t be selling promotional samples of the product on eBay, it may be making a comeback in the form of a can this year.
