Charlie Puth stopped by the Mix Lounge in Boston this week, and before taking the stage to perform, he took a few minutes to talk to Karson and Salt from Karson & Kennedy.
He spoke about the first time he performed We Don’t Talk Anymore live with Selena Gomez.
“It was the first time we ever performed it, we didn’t even rehearse it, we just went up and just did it,” Puth told Karson & Salt. “And I had my camera crew with me and we made a little video on the spot.”
The reason why he and Selena had never performed or rehearsed it before was because Charlie constructed it from different tracks.
“I made We Don’t Talk Anymore on my laptop, on this little laptop when I was travelling around the world, I made the beat. I even recorded the vocals in hotel rooms. I recorded [Selena’s] vocals in my closet.”
So, the song we hear on the radio today was structured on a laptop, in hotel room closets, and using an iPhone. Ain’t technology grand?
