Zero MTV VMA Nominations For Taylor Swift?! Never In Our Wildest Dreams!

by Alisha Jackson

The artist who we thought would never go out of style just did, according to MTV. Sure, it was kind of a slow release year for Taylor Swift due to her 1989 world tour, but the pop queen did manage to put out two major music videos, and a third video featuring her tour footage. But for some reason, MTV didn’t consider them while making up their Video Music Award ballots.

Seems like a slap in the face, since Taylor debuted “Wildest Dreams” during last year’s VMA pre-show.

Swift’s video for “Out of the Woods” earned an even more sought-after premiere spot on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve back in December. But alas, that video wasn’t considered for a 2016 VMA either.

And with 41 million views on Youtube, the concert footage video for “New Romantics” didn’t make the cut either.

So why the snub from MTV? When it comes down to it, Beyoncé‘s Lemonade videos drowned out the other nominees. With 11 nominations, a career best for Bey, and eight noms for Adele, it looks like there were no blank spaces left for Taylor.
