Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic called in to Karson and Kennedy this morning to talk about Mixfest, which is happening tomorrow, Saturday, September 17th at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston! OneRepublic will be sharing the stage with Ingrid Michaelson and Shaggy, and gates will open at 11:00 AM. Here’s everything you need to know about our free event!
Although he has no intentions of running late at Mixfest, Tedder has violated a time constraint law before with OneRepublic, and they aren’t cheap! “Every country is different,” he explained about curfew rules. “Some countries, specifically in Europe, they will just yank the cord,” he revealed.
OneRepublic shares the same booking agent as Lenny Kravitz, who had a bad experience with running late. “I heard a story once where they just yanked the cord on him [Lenny Kravitz], and of course he lost it, and went absolutely nuts,” Ryan said. According to the lead singer, the U.S. tends to rack up the fines instead of cutting power. “I’ve had it as bad as $10,000 the first minute, and then $5,000 every additional minute,” he said. “I’ve seen it where if you go over five minutes, it’s a $50,000 fee.. $100,000 fee.” OneRepublic obviously tries its best to avoid that kind of situation, but the band will bite the bullet under certain circumstances. Hear all about it in Karson and Kennedy’s interview with Ryan below!
During the interview, Ryan also opened up about his favorite place to grab a bite in Boston. Oh, and his passion for “Pilates”. “I’m completely addicted to Pilates. And by Pilates, I mean waffles.” Ryan teased. In all seriousness though, Tedder’s favorite spot in Boston is the Bell In Hand. “Every time we go to Boston, we always have something at the Bell In Hand, and a couple of a summers ago they were having a month-long special at the Bell In Hand called ‘Lobster-palooza’. They take every menu item on the menu and add lobster to it. We ordered five different lobster menu items per person and got physically sick on lobster.”
Hopefully the members of 1R will be able to control their lobster consumption this time around!
