The LA Times reports that Zappa originally purchased the property in the late 1960’s for $74,000, where he lived with his family and recorded music until the day he passed in 1993. The compound was listed this summer for $5.5 million after the musician’s widow, Gail Zappa, passed last year.
The estate, which is tucked away in Laurel Canyon, can be located on the map below.
The 8,000 square foot home sits on just over a half acre of land, and includes Zappa’s recording studio and rehearsal space, an underground climate-controlled storage chamber called “The Vault,” a rooftop tennis court, a swimming pool and spa, two detached guest cottages, and an attached guest apartment.
