Called it! When Joe Jonas posted a video of him being stuck in an elevator for four hours with his ex, Demi Lovato, and his band, DNCE, we immediately started cross-referencing everyone’s social media time stamps.
We know that Demi is a great actress (Camp Rock forever!), so if Joe had rehearsed the elevator bit with her before hitting record on Snapchat, we probably would have fallen for the prank. But when he started recording, Demi’s nervous laughter immediately gave away the gag, not to mention the fact that his DNCE bandmates were nodding their heads “no” the entire time. Watch the “dramatic” video below.
After fooling many other media outlets (us not included!), Joe Jonas decided to come clean about the elevator incident. “It was a lot less dramatic. It was a total prank and we fooled everyone,” he spilled to People. “I made the video saying we got stuck in the elevator, but we really weren’t. But I guess it’s bad karma to say that because I don’t want to get stuck in the elevator anytime soon.”
“[Demi and I] were talking yesterday and I said, ‘I think we fooled everyone because it’s on every press site,’ but we really weren’t stuck in the elevator,” Jonas revealed over the weekend.
