People hate clowns, especially creepy ones, so these clown sightings that have been happening are giving good clowns everywhere a bad rep.
According to Mashable, Randy Christensen, President of the World Clown Association, stated that, “We’re full of people that love children, bring smiles and want to help people laugh and bring comic relief. The people dressing up are trying to scare people, no professional clown would ever take part in anything like that.”
He is speaking out about this issue because clowns everywhere are experiencing job cancellations because of the eerie trend, so it’s more than just a prank. Megan Anton-Kicincki, who is better known as Gabby The Clown, spoke to Vice about how its affected her business.
“I don’t want somebody to come up and assault me … I just want to do some kids shows and have fun and face paint and make balloons, you know? I don’t want to risk going out and possibly getting assaulted by some imbecile who feels the need to be a vigilante.”
Hopefully this craze ends soon — nobody wants it to continue.
