Bette Midler “Can’t Understand” Why There Isn’t a ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel

by Alisha Jackson

It’s been twenty-four years since Hocus Pocus first put a spell on us, and clearly it worked. The film’s popularity has held up over the years, so much so, that it may be more relevant today than it ever was.

Not only has Hocus Pocus been ruling Freeform’s 13 Nights of Halloween this month, but the movie has also taken over the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

It’s clear that if Freeform’s Instagram account could wear a costume, it would dress up as Hocus Pocus. More than 50% of its 13 Nights of Halloween promo photos have focused on the movie, one of which was made special by the channel itself.

Check it out below.

For the first time since the movie’s release, its mischievous Sanderson sisters are hosting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World. Talk about a timeless classic!

Last year, Bette Midler teased the possibility of a sequel to the movie, when she took to social media to let the mortal world know that casting had been delayed due to a shortage of virgins.

Midler’s onscreen sister, Sarah Jessica Parker alluded to talks of a sequel just being a bunch of hocus pocus, telling Vulture, “we’ve all been exchanging funny, not-reality-based messages to one another. [That’s] as much as I know.”

Now, with the Halloween season upon us, Midler has resurrected talks of a sequel once again. “For the life of me, I can’t understand why there’s not a sequel,” she told Billboard in a recent interview. “All the shackles were off, as Donald Trump likes to say, and we were allowed to be as wild as we wanted to be. It was a perfect storm of fun.”

Would you be on board with a Hocus Pocus sequel?
