By: Eric Donnelly

Of course you remember Outkast’s mega-hit “Ms. Jackson,” but do you know who the song was about?

The woman behind the lyric is……Erykah Badu’s mother! According to the Rap Radar podcast on play.it, Badu and Andre “3000” Benjamin from Outkast had a child, Seven Sirius Benjamin, together in 1997. In a recent podcast interview, “she said the rap duo’s 2000 No. 1 hit was inspired by Andre ‘3000’ Benjamin’s relationship with her mother.”

She also revealed that the real Ms. Jackson was a huge fan of the song! “How did my mama feel? Baby, she bought herself a ‘Ms. Jackson’ license plate. She had the mug, she had the ink pen, she had the headband, everything. That’s who loved it.”
